I clock di tempo reale (RTC) di Maxim Integrated sono offerti in una vasta gamma di piccoli package a bassa potenza, altamente accurati e CI basati su MEM. I CI di RTC misurano il tempo, anche quando l'alimentazione del dispositivo principale è disinserita, per cui sono necessari una batteria ausiliaria o supercondensatore. Il consumo di energia è un fattore chiave nella maggior parte dei design di RTC, ma anche precisione e dimensioni ridotte del package sono importanti. I più recenti CI di RTC riducono il numero di piedini del package supportando un'interfaccia seriale.
